Romania cruised past San Marino last night with a 7–1 victory in the final match of the World Cup qualifiers, although the result no longer influenced the final standings of Group F. After the match, Mircea Lucescu stated that he will travel on Thursday to the play-off draw—broadcast live on Antena 1 and AntenaPLAY from 14:00—where the national team will find out their semifinal opponent and potential opponents for the final.
Aired last night between 21:47 and 23:38, the Romania – San Marino match clearly dominated the ratings across all targets. In the commercial segment (viewers aged 21–54), the match recorded 6.7 rating points and a 27.6% market share, while runner-up Pro TV achieved 5.3 rating points with a 21.9% market share. The match also ranked first in the urban segment, with 7.3 rating points and a 23.7% market share, while Pro TV came second with 5.3 rating points and a 17.2% market share. The hierarchy remained the same at the national level, where Antena 1 registered 7.4 rating points and a 23% market share, followed by Pro TV with 5.8 rating points and 18% market share. At the peak minute, 22:19, over 1.5 million viewers nationwide watched the Romania – San Marino clash.
Romania’s 7–1 win in Ploiești over San Marino ends their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a morale-boosting victory. Mircea Lucescu’s team will head to the play-offs, where possible opponents are Italy, Turkey, Ukraine, and Denmark.
