Romania vs. San Marino, broadcast last night on Antena 1 and AntenaPLAY, is the clear ratings leader

Antena broadcasts live on Thursday, from 14:00, the draw for the 2026 World Cup play-offs

Romania cruised past San Marino last night with a 7–1 victory in the final match of the World Cup qualifiers, although the result no longer influenced the final standings of Group F. After the match, Mircea Lucescu stated that he will travel on Thursday to the play-off draw—broadcast live on Antena 1 and AntenaPLAY from 14:00—where the national team will find out their semifinal opponent and potential opponents for the final.

Aired last night between 21:47 and 23:38, the Romania – San Marino match clearly dominated the ratings across all targets. In the commercial segment (viewers aged 21–54), the match recorded 6.7 rating points and a 27.6% market share, while runner-up Pro TV achieved 5.3 rating points with a 21.9% market share. The match also ranked first in the urban segment, with 7.3 rating points and a 23.7% market share, while Pro TV came second with 5.3 rating points and a 17.2% market share. The hierarchy remained the same at the national level, where Antena 1 registered 7.4 rating points and a 23% market share, followed by Pro TV with 5.8 rating points and 18% market share. At the peak minute, 22:19, over 1.5 million viewers nationwide watched the Romania – San Marino clash.

Romania’s 7–1 win in Ploiești over San Marino ends their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a morale-boosting victory. Mircea Lucescu’s team will head to the play-offs, where possible opponents are Italy, Turkey, Ukraine, and Denmark. The 2026 World Cup play-off draw takes place on Thursday, 20 November, at 14:00, LIVE on Antena 1 and AntenaPLAY.

In 2026, Antena will cover the first-ever FIFA World Cup featuring 48 teams and 104 matches—a moment when football spans an entire continent, with games in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. In 2030, Antena will broadcast in Romania the FIFA World Cup Centenary—100 years of the World Cup—a tournament beginning in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, then crossing the ocean to captivate the world from Spain, Portugal, and Morocco!
