Goal Fest on Day Four of the FIFA World Cup as Antena 1 Remains the Clear Ratings Leader

The fourth day of the FIFA World Cup, broadcast exclusively by Antena, continued to dominate the television ratings. The Group E clash between Germany and Curaçao, the Group F encounter between the Netherlands and Japan, as well as the Group C matches Brazil vs. Morocco and Haiti vs. Scotland, for which audience data became available today, all comfortably topped the ratings charts across every key audience category. Antena 1 also secured a decisive lead during Prime Time and across the entire broadcast day.

During the Group E match Germany vs. Curaçao, aired between 19:59 and 22:00, Antena 1 ranked as the clear audience leader among viewers aged 21–54 in the commercial target group, recording an 8.4 rating and a 30.9% market share, compared to Pro TV’s 4.6 rating and 16.8% market share.

The same ranking was maintained among urban viewers, where the broadcast achieved an 8.5 rating and a 24.2% market share, ahead of Pro TV’s 4.3 rating and 12.4% market share. Nationwide, Antena 1 posted a 6.6 rating and a 19.0% market share, compared to Pro TV’s 4.6 rating and 13.4% market share. At the peak viewing minute, recorded at 21:55, more than 1.5 million viewers were watching the Group E showdown.

The Group F match between the Netherlands and Japan, broadcast from 22:57 to 00:56, was also the audience’s top viewing choice, recording an average rating of 5.3 and a 31.4% market share among viewers aged 21–54, compared to Pro TV’s 2.5 rating and 14.9% market share. Antena 1 maintained its lead across all other major audience categories as well.

Furthermore, Antena 1 led the daily ratings rankings with a 2.9 rating and a 23.3% market share, compared to second-place Pro TV, which registered a 2.2 rating and a 17.7% market share. The channel also dominated Prime Time (19:00–00:00), recording a 6.1 rating and a 25.6% market share, ahead of Pro TV’s 4.5 rating and 19.0% market share.

The Brazil vs. Morocco match, broadcast between 01:04 and 03:07, also topped the ratings charts, achieving an average rating of 3.3 and a 37.9% market share among viewers aged 21–54, compared to Pro TV’s 1.5 rating and 16.8% market share. Antena 1 remained the leader across all other key audience segments.

The other Group C encounter, Haiti vs. Scotland (03:59–06:03), was likewise the audience’s preferred viewing choice, recording an average rating of 1.5 and a 42.3% market share among viewers aged 21–54, compared to Pro TV’s 0.4 rating and 12.5% market share. The same audience hierarchy was maintained across all major viewer categories.

Germany began its World Cup campaign exactly as expected. After overcoming the setback of conceding an equalizer, the Germans comfortably defeated one of the lowest-ranked teams at the tournament. They scored seven goals against Curaçao and became the national team with the most goals in FIFA World Cup history. Kai Havertz’s goal for 7–1 in the 88th minute marked Germany’s 239th World Cup goal.

Germany therefore surpassed Brazil, which stands on 238 World Cup goals following Vinícius’ strike in the 1–1 draw against Morocco.

The Netherlands and Japan played out a thrilling draw after a second half that produced four goals. The Dutch opened the scoring through Virgil van Dijk in the 51st minute. Eight minutes later, Japan equalized through Nakamura. In the 64th minute, the Netherlands regained the lead thanks to Summerville’s goal. The final score was set by Kamada, who found the net in the 89th minute.

Brazil vs. Morocco (1–1), the opening Group C match of the FIFA World Cup, was also broadcast live on Antena 1 and streamed on AntenaPLAY. The match in New York proved highly entertaining and ended in a draw. Morocco opened the scoring in the 21st minute through Saibari, who capitalized on a gap in the Brazilian defense. Brazil equalized in the 32nd minute through Vinícius. The Real Madrid star beat Bono with a precise shot into the far corner.

The other Group C match, Haiti vs. Scotland (0–1), was played in Boston and narrowly won by the Scots. Scotland’s hero was John McGinn, the Aston Villa midfielder who scored the match’s only goal in the 28th minute. Scotland missed several additional chances throughout the game, while Haiti nearly snatched an equalizer in stoppage time when Pierrot squandered a golden opportunity.
