Observator 12, the Romanians’ favorite lunchtime news show, celebrates 6 years.

Strong start of the year: spectacular 17% growth in audience and consolidated leadership in urban 21-54

For 6 years, in the homes of millions of Romanians! Since its launch, in March 2019, Observator 12 has offered the public a different concept of news, combining the reporting of the main events of the day with reports, interviews and on-set discussions with specialist guests, and the large number of viewers confirmed the success of the format.

The presenters, Olivia Păunescu, Mihaela Călin and Valentin Butnaru confessed that they live the anniversary with emotion.

"When I look back on these 6 years of live shows at Observator 12, I feel a mixture of gratitude, excitement and pride. There were years of intense work, of adrenaline at every edition, of immense satisfaction, but also of challenges that shaped me both professionally and personally. Behind each edition were dedicated people who put soul and professionalism into every second of the broadcast. Today, looking back, I know that these years were not just about television, but about people, about truth, about the power to inform and make a difference. Observator 12 is not just a news journal, but a part of me.” - Olivia Paunescu

"We have the most beautiful team at Observator 12! And I'm not saying that because it's mine, but because it's effervescent and cohesive at the same time, and that's tricky to pull off. We are so different, different characters and different passions, but we manage to put together what makes each one special and come to you with joy, with all the information you need. Happy Birthday, Observator 12! To grow big and gather all the Romanians around you, because you are actually showing them what they have most beautiful: their freedom and traditions." - Mihaela Calin

"Although I was initially quite reluctant to make the transition to a new stretch where the world was not used to news, it seems that the instinct did not work, as 6 years of beautiful challenges followed, thousands of live interviews, tens of thousands of unique moments and a fantastic joy, to also benefit from the support of the viewers in this whole endeavor! Happy Birthday, Observator 12!” - Valentin Butnaru

Observator 12 started the year strong with a spectacular 17% increase in audience and consolidated leadership in urban 21-54In the first two months of 2025, Observator 12 consolidated its position in the urban 21-54 segment, reaching a share of 17.3% and a rating of 2.1%, up +5% compared to the same period last year. The number of viewers who watched the entire edition increased by +14%, reaching 97,000 per day, and the total number of unique viewers exceeded 1.5 million. These results confirm the growing impact of Observatory 12 and reinforce its status as a landmark in midday information.

Since its launch, in March 2019, the number of people who choose Antena 1 between 12:00 and 14:00 is increasing. Observator 12 is the favorite news program of Romanians, at noon. With a constantly growing audience and an exciting offer, Antena 1 remains the leader of the public's preferences, proving its power of attraction even in the face of increasingly strong competition.
