More than 50,000 fans at the National Arena and millions of Romanians in front of their television screens watched the fourth-round Nations League clash between Romania and Sweden, which ended 0-1. The match emerged as the clear ratings leader across all audience demographics and set a new ratings record for this Nations League season.
The fourth match played by Romania in the 2026 Nations League, Romania vs. Sweden, was broadcast live last night on Antena 1 and AntenaPLAY between 9:45 p.m. and 11:38 p.m. The match topped the ratings charts, recording a 10.4 rating and a 42.4% market share among the commercial audience aged 21–54, while the second-ranked channel, Pro TV, recorded a 3.9 rating and a 16% market share.
Antena 1 also led the ratings among the urban audience, with an 11.1 rating and a 35.7% market share, followed by Pro TV, with a 3.4 rating and a 10.8% market share. The ranking remained unchanged nationwide, where Antena 1 recorded a 9.8 rating and a 32.5% market share, followed by Pro TV, with a 3.4 rating and an 11.3% market share. At the peak viewing time, at 10:15 p.m., nearly 2 million viewers were watching Gică Hagi’s “Tricolors.”
Antena 1 also topped the ratings for the entire day, with a 2.3 rating and a 22.7% market share, as well as throughout the entire Prime Time interval (7:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m.), with a 6.7 rating and a 28.2% market share among the commercial audience aged 21–54.
Last night, Romania suffered its fourth consecutive defeat in the Nations League, losing 0-1 to Sweden on home soil. Viktor Gyökeres’ 13th-minute goal made the difference following a mistake by Romania’s captain, Nicolae Stanciu. Florin Tănase and Nicolae Stanciu missed Romania’s biggest chances in the second half, but the score remained unchanged.
For Romania’s captain, Nicolae Stanciu, the match also marked two important milestones: he became the eighth player in the history of the Romanian national team to reach at least 90 appearances for his country, including 34 as captain.
Gică Hagi’s “Tricolors” will now have a one-month break before returning to action in November, when they will play their final two matches: at home against Poland on November 14 and away against Bosnia on November 17. Both matches will be broadcast live on Antena 1 and AntenaPLAY.
