Georgia vs Romania will be broadcast live on Tuesday, June 2, from 20:00, on Antena 1 and AntenaPLAY. Following this match, Romania will play the first home game of Gică Hagi’s new tenure against Wales on Saturday at 20:45, at Steaua Stadium.
Gică Hagi has announced Romania’s squad for the double-header against Georgia and Wales. The head coach selected 31 players for the two matches, stating that he wants to have three players for each position in order to test them ahead of the Nations League campaign.
“This group has already achieved strong performances. We will continue to feed it with positive things, with the belief that ‘it can be done.’ We need to be mentally strong. I will not complain about absences, even now we have injured players. At the national team, the head coach has all the resources in Romania — he is the richest, he can choose whoever he wants. We must have personality and take responsibility for what we do, and then the players must do the same. We have very good players, we know the level at which we took over the team, and we want to take it much higher. I like winning — that is the message I will transmit. Victory unites people and builds confidence. There will be pressure, but we must handle it. You need personality,” said Gheorghe Hagi.
Speaking about the clash with Georgia, “The King” added: “They are a very good team on the ball. We need to be highly aggressive, defend very well, and keep possession more than they do. They play very good, vertical football and are strong in possession. We need to put them under pressure in terms of space and time.”
