The cast of the original series Undercover Heart, created by Ruxandra Ion and produced by Dream Film Production for Antena 1, welcomes several new familiar faces. Mihai Călin, Doina Teodoru, Oana Moșneagu, Bogdan Cotleț and Alexia Artenii will bring key characters to life. Undercover agents working for the Romanian division of a major European anti-fraud agency, they are part of a team where intelligence, intuition, loyalty and courage are essential. Behind every mission lies an entire network of people, each with a clearly defined role, while the secrets they keep have the power to dramatically change the course of the story.
Mihai Călin, the Man Behind the Scenes Who Has the Final Say in the Agency’s Decisions
With an impressive career spanning theatre, film and television, Mihai Călin joins the world of Undercover Heart in a key role. The actor will portray Vlad, the head of the Agency, the man behind the scenes whom Clara (Andreea Vasile) turns to whenever a problem arises and the person who has the final say on the most important decisions. A consummate professional and a self-confessed workaholic, Vlad has devoted his entire life to the Agency, leaving his personal life on the back burner.
Speaking about his first encounter with the character, Mihai Călin reveals: “I was delighted to receive the offer, especially since it came from Ruxandra Ion and the casting team, whom I am happy to be working with again. Vlad is a professional, a rational man who can sometimes be cold, but who also knows how to be understanding and show compassion towards the people working under him. He is a character who always seems to have the situation under control, yet he also has a few surprises up his sleeve. As for me, I believe I share at least part of his rational side.”
Doina Teodoru Plays Lana, the Woman Who Knows Everything About Everyone
Actress Doina Teodoru will portray Lana in Undercover Heart, one of the Agency’s most important team members. Of Macedonian descent, Lana is the profiler who manages to gather all the information, notice the details others overlook and quickly connect the dots whenever the situation calls for it. Extremely intelligent, spontaneous and always ready with the right response, Lana is the kind of person who knows almost everything about those around her but feels no need to show off her knowledge. It is precisely this discretion, combined with an exceptionally sharp mind, that makes her an indispensable member of the entire team.
“I really enjoyed the challenge of building a character who is different from the ones I have played so far. Lana is essential to the team, but she has no need to be the centre of attention. She observes a lot, knows a great deal about the people around her and carefully chooses when and what to say. In moments of crisis, she remains clear-headed and quickly finds solutions without making a big deal out of it. This role challenged me to let my character’s gaze and reactions sometimes speak louder than her words,” Doina Teodoru reveals. She also adds: “In moments of crisis, people rely on her precisely because she stays composed and finds quick answers without making a show of it. I enjoyed working on a character who is essential without being loud, who observes more than she says and maintains her composure even when everything around her seems to be spiralling out of control. It is a role that challenged me to embrace silence and let my character’s gaze and reactions speak louder than her lines.”
Oana Moșneagu Plays Sânziana, the Agency’s Backbone
Oana Moșneagu portrays Sânziana, an attractive young woman in excellent physical shape who combines office work with undercover missions. She works closely with Ionuț (Bogdan Cotleț), whom she considers a brother, while her experience at the Agency makes her an important source of support for Clara (Andreea Vasile).
For the actress, meeting this character came after an audition that brought back the emotions of her early days: “I was extremely nervous, and on the day of the audition, those emotions reminded me of how I felt during the casting sessions for Adela, a feeling I hadn't experienced in quite some time. I received the good news that very same day, and I was absolutely thrilled to find out that I would be part of a new project,” Oana Moșneagu shares. She continues: “Sânziana always follows procedure and is very particular about doing things by the book. Whenever she feels something is wrong, she takes action to put things right, even if that means going against her superior's instructions. Her professional life always comes first. Her career and the work she does are her top priorities, while her personal life takes a back seat.”
Bogdan Cotleț Plays Ionuț, the Agency’s IT Specialist, with a Great Sense of Humour and Well-Hidden Feelings
Bogdan Cotleț will bring Ionuț, the Agency’s IT specialist, to life. Intelligent, highly skilled at what he does and blessed with a well-developed sense of humour, Ionuț is one of the people without whom the team's missions would be far more complicated. Loyal and always ready to find solutions, he also has a sentimental side that he tries to keep hidden from everyone else: he is secretly in love with Sânziana, and at some point, he will have to find the courage to confess his feelings to her.
Speaking about his role, the actor reveals: “Ionuț loves technology and everything related to the tech world, especially computers. He is loyal, keeps his word, is very good with passwords and is slightly agoraphobic. Unlike me, he is efficient, and the girl he likes doesn't return his feelings. Oh, and Ionuț is allowed to keep manga figurines on his desk. I’m not!” he adds in his trademark style.
Alexia Artenii Plays Adina, the Agent Who Continues to Watch Over Her Loved Ones
For Alexia Artenii, a third-year student at UNATC, Undercover Heart marks her first television project and her first experience in front of the camera. The actress portrays Adina, Clara’s sister, an undercover agent at the beginning of her career, but with extraordinary potential. Extremely intelligent, determined and full of humour, Adina is the kind of person you quickly grow attached to. Beyond her energy and courage, Adina is sensitive by nature and strives to earn the recognition of the people she admires. Her relationship with her sister is a special one, and her story holds an emotional dimension that viewers will soon be invited to discover on Antena 1.
“I was offered the role following an audition, and it came with a great deal of emotion and gratitude. This is my first project, so I really want to live up to everyone's expectations. I was instantly intrigued by Adina and felt that I wanted to do her justice through an interpretation that was as honest and authentic as possible. It seemed like a wonderful challenge, and from the very beginning, I understood how important it was for the character to have an arc that would resonate emotionally with the audience,” Alexia Artenii shares.
Meanwhile, Iulia Rugină, the project's coordinating director, reveals: “I have always learned so much from the experienced actors I have had the chance to work with, and this time I am learning from Mihai Călin, with every new nuance he discovers in this character, who is, in many ways, rather mysterious and difficult to read. And as the weeks of filming go by, the entire world of the ‘Agency’ is becoming like a perfectly harmonious family, with everyone bringing something special to the table: Oana's reason, Doina's charisma, Bogdan's humour and Alexia's poetry. When you put all these qualities together, spending time with them is a real joy. It certainly is on set, and I am convinced it will be just as enjoyable on screen.”
