Gabi Tamaș and Dan Alexa are the big winners of Asia Express Season 8 – The Heroes Road, in a ratings-leading finale
Dan Alexa and Gabi Tamaș, together with Ștefan Floroaica and Alex Ion, took to the streets of Seoul last night in the grand finale of Asia Express Season 8. The grand trophy was won by the two footballers after an extremely close and intense race. Viewers were able to discover, alongside the contestants, the beauty of Seoul – from its iconic landmarks to cultural details and unique moments that only such an adventure can reveal. A futuristic city, full of color and energy, became the battleground for the final duel of the season. The grand finale was the clear ratings leader across all audience segments, marking a peak of interest for the most complex season in the show’s history.
According to Kantar Media, the Asia Express – The Heroes Road finale, broadcast last night between 20:30 and 00:16, led the ratings among commercial viewers aged 21 to 54, with an average audience of 8.2 rating points and a 31.7% market share, followed by Pro TV with only 4.5 rating points and a 17.4% market share. The hierarchy remained the same in the urban segment, where the show recorded 7.5 rating points and a 24.1% market share, while Pro TV, in second place, obtained 3.8 rating points and a 12.4% market share. At the national level as well, Asia Express was the audience’s first choice, with 7.1 rating points and a 22.9% market share, again followed by Pro TV with 4.3 rating points and a 13.7% market share. At the peak minute, 21:41, over 1.5 million viewers nationwide followed the adventures of the Asia Express – The Heroes’ Road contestants.
After ten stages that took them through three completely different cultures – the Philippines, Vietnam, and South Korea – the contestants went through a whirlwind of experiences that tested their physical, mental, and emotional limits. From remote villages in the Philippines, where people live without electricity, to South Korea’s advanced technology, where they even interacted with robot dogs, The Heroes Road confronted them with situations they would never have lived anywhere else. It was an adventure that left a mark on each of them – on the way they see the world, on how they react, on resilience, on adaptation. A unique experience, possible only on Asia Express.
“I’m glad that people at home got to meet Gabi and Dan this time – a boy from Brașov and a boy from Caransebeș – and not Tamaș and Alexa or whatever they thought they knew about us. It was two months in which we lived in a context that showed us exactly as we are in everyday life. We enjoyed what we saw, what we lived, the people who were with us, but always with respect for the competition, something we have in our blood. It was a story I’m happy I lived, and I’m happy I lived it alongside Dan,” said Gabi Tamaș.
“We took the strategy from the football field and applied it on the battleground of Asia Express. From the beginning, we set out with the idea of pacing things our own way and not forgetting to enjoy everything happening there – and I truly believe we succeeded. Personally, I will never forget the nights when I had to ask for accommodation. It was my nightmare... but at the same time, I carry with me the joy of meeting extraordinary people and stories at those accommodations—stories I would never have had the chance to hear otherwise. And I want to thank everyone who took us into their cars and their homes and became part of our story,” said Dan Alexa.
