A spectacular Day 10 of the FIFA World Cup, broadcast exclusively across the Antena universe, helped the competition maintain its leading position in the ratings rankings. Romanian viewers closely followed the intense battles leading up to the Round of 32, with the Netherlands vs. Sweden and Germany vs. Ivory Coast matches, as well as the previous day’s fixtures—Scotland vs. Morocco (Group C, 1–0), Brazil vs. Haiti (Group C, 3–0), and Turkey vs. Paraguay—whose audience figures were released today, all emerging as clear ratings leaders. The FIFA World Cup continues today with the fight for qualification to the Round of 32, exclusively on Antena 1 and AntenaPLAY. Yesterday, Antena 1 topped the ratings charts both during Prime Time and across the entire broadcast day.
The Group F match between the Netherlands and Sweden, played between 7:51 PM and 9:58 PM and ending in a 5–1 victory for the Dutch, was viewers’ top choice. It recorded a 24.1% market share and an average rating of 4.4 points among the commercial audience aged 21–54, ahead of Pro TV, which posted an 18.2% market share and a 3.3-point rating. The same hierarchy was maintained among urban viewers, where the match achieved a 22.5% market share and a 6.1-point rating, compared to Pro TV’s 14.2% market share and 3.9-point rating. The Group E clash between Germany and Ivory Coast, which ended 2–1, was also the most-watched program in its slot. It delivered a 34.8% market share and a 6.3-point rating among viewers aged 21–54, followed by Pro TV with an 18.7% market share and a 3.4-point rating. The ranking remained unchanged among urban viewers, where the match achieved a 28.7% market share and a 6-point rating, compared to Pro TV’s 13.7% market share and 2.8-point rating. Antena 1 also led the ratings across the entire day, recording a 2.4-point rating and a 23.1% market share, as well as throughout Prime Time (7:00 PM–12:00 AM), with a 4.4-point rating and a 23.9% market share.
The previous day’s matches—Scotland vs. Morocco (Group C, 1–0), Brazil vs. Haiti (Group C, 3–0), and Turkey vs. Paraguay (Group D, 0–1)—also topped the ratings charts across all key audience categories, registering market shares of 33.4%, 43.8%, and 38.5%, respectively, among the commercial audience aged 21–54. The same ranking trend was observed across the other major audience segments.
Germany secured a dramatic 2–1 victory over Ivory Coast thanks to a stoppage-time winner from Deniz Undav. Julian Nagelsmann’s side booked their place in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 with six points from two matches. Undav was Germany’s hero in Toronto, scoring twice, including the winning goal in the 90+4 minute.
The Netherlands took a major step toward qualification for the Round of 32 with an emphatic 5–1 win over Sweden in the second round of Group F fixtures. Ronald Koeman’s team set a historic record on football’s biggest stage, surpassing the legendary Brazil side of Pelé. After drawing with Japan in their opening group match, the Dutch national team put on a dazzling display against Sweden, securing a convincing 5–1 victory. With this result, the Oranje extended their unbeaten FIFA World Cup run to 14 consecutive matches, breaking the historic record previously held by Pelé’s Brazil. The Netherlands’ last World Cup defeat dates back to the 2010 tournament, specifically the final against Spain.
Earlier today, at 3:00 AM, Ecuador and Curaçao played out a 0–0 draw in Kansas, broadcast live on Antena 1 and streamed on AntenaPLAY. The match was highly entertaining despite the lack of goals, with both teams missing several clear chances. Ecuador came close to opening the scoring as early as the third minute, when Valencia squandered a golden opportunity. In the second half, both sides continued to create and miss major chances, with Curaçao nearly finding a breakthrough in the 60th minute during a triple opportunity. In the final round of group matches, Ecuador will face already-qualified Germany, while Curaçao will take on Ivory Coast.
