What Romanians want from Romania? The first results of the largest National Study carried out within the campaign My Romania, Your Romania, Our Romania, at Antena 1 Observator

Observator Antena 1 launched the biggest journalistic effort in Romania in the last 35 years, the biggest national study ever initiated by a media entity, carried out by the prestigious international market research company, Ipsos. After 35 years of democracy, real data give the answer to the question "What Romanians want from Romania?" The most profound set of questions and answers about Romania can now be seen, October 21st, every evening at Observator 7PM.

80% of Romanians are afraid to go to hospitals in their country, 31% of us are afraid of war - the highest percentage since there are surveys, 70% of Romanians say that our school system does not keep up with reality. In total, 32 radiographs of Romania - from all angles! The Observator campaign does not only reveal a cold statistic, but, through the reports made by the strongest team of journalists in Romania, shows how this reality was reached, we debate together the causes of the Observator National Study, but also what needs to be done for Romania in 2024 !
"The main problem Romanians have is related to their livelihood and tomorrow. At one point, a respondent said, "I'm afraid for when my children catch a cold", we're talking about their fear of the health system, 80% of people had at least one unpleasant experience with the Romanian health system, fears related to the relevance of the curriculum in the educational system, the share of consumption expenses that come from their salary - food, utility expenses and what is left to move on - they feel that they no longer have a perspective, all the things related to the European institutions have started to unravel , and they do not believe anymore in external help. We are talking about 29% of Romanians who say that they are not very sure that we should help other countries that are in difficulty, which looks like a cry for help." - Alina Stepan, country manager Ipsos Romania

The campaign "My Romania, your Romania, our Romania!" it is an x-ray in numbers and stories. Viewers will see some of the most powerful and moving stories ever told by the people who show the news every day on Observator Antena 1. Observator presenters return to the communities they left and share their stories and the people who marked their lives.
"I was born in a Roma family where my sisters got married at 14 and 16. But I wanted something else. And school was my salvation. We are going back to the community to see what future expects the children of today." - Ana Maria Gheorghe, Observator journalist
"The city of Urziceni, where I was born, once lived in the Champions League and with the promise of an airport for Bucharest. Today, a pregnant woman gives birth outside, on the hospital stairs. We are going to my house to understand what the future looks like for these people." - Marius Gîrlașiu, Observator journalist
"I stayed in Spain for several years and I hoped that it would be home for me as well. As it is for 1 million Romanians. I'm going back to see what still keeps them away from home and what they still want from Romania. " - Bianca Iacob, Observator journalist

"I left Iasi out of necessity, but my heart actually remained in the heart of Moldova. Now I know that a Moldavian can succeed wherever he sets his mind to it, and I want to see what can change the lives of people in my city." - Bogdan Alecsandru, Observator journalist
"I left Botoșani to be a journalist. Encouraged, surprise!, by my physics teacher. I'm going back home, to my family. To find out what the people of Moldova want from Romania." - Mădălina Iacob, Observator journalist
"I was 5 years old when, one morning, on my street in Constanţa I saw a tank. The Revolution was starting. This image followed me for a long time. Until I became a war reporter. I am returning home. I want to understand how Romanians live today so close to a conflict that changes Europe." - Cristi Popovici, Observator journalist
"I grew up in Bucharest, in the neighborhood where I still live today. Here, together with my friends and family, I made plans and dreams for the future. My Romania is here, on a small scale, a mixture of old and new buildings, old problems and us." - Olivia Păunescu, Observator journalist
"The city I come from is a place where, once, life was good. Now, it's one of the black spots on the map of poverty in Romania. Behind the numbers, there are real dramas. There are people I know well. And it's painful. I'm going back to see what else they want from Romania." - Mihaela Călin, Observator journalist
"I left Kogălniceanu right after I finished high school. From then until now it has changed a lot and has experienced a development similar to that of a city. I am now returning home because I want to find out what the people of my hometown want from Romania." - Andreea Milea, Observator journalist

"I tried to survive in Bucharest as a journalist until I understood that Timișoara is my home. I live here, with people I've known all my life. And I'm glad that some things never change. Especially the taste of childhood." - Iulia Pop, Observator journalist
"The city where I live and where I do my job has transformed before my eyes. But beyond the charm and achievements, big, deep problems remain." - Alex Prunean, Observer journalist
"Constanța is a magnet for the whole country and could have been a gateway to a better future. But it wasn't. We are discovering what my people want, from home town, from Romania." - Andreea Filip, Observator journalist
"I was born in Bucharest, a city with people from all over, with complicated architecture, crowding, chaos, dust and nuisance. It's hard to love Bucharest. But you can't abandon it either. Let's understand what the people of Bucharest want from Romania." - Valentin Butnaru, Observator journalist
"I was born in Târgu Mureş. But home now is the place where my family is and where I raise my child. A big challenge for any parent today. I want to see how the new generation grows up, for Romania." - Nadina Câmpean, Observator journalist
"I left Medgidia, with a CV in my hand and all my savings in a pocket, to become an adult, in Bucharest. The taxi driver who picked me up from the station drove me pointless around the city for an hour and then took all the money that I had. It was a hard experience, but also a great lesson. Besides, I'm going back home, to my family, to see what they want from Romania." - Iancu Guda, Observator specialist

"I was born and lived my childhood, played in fact, two steps from the Arc de Triomphe in Bucharest, so I have the image of the symbol of victory and of Greater Romania. At 18, I entered the media, knowing and being convinced that I can change something in Romania. That's why, at the age of 22, I turned down a job at CNN, because my world is here. I would like to make Romania the country where my daughter, Sara, chooses to live. I've been saying that for over 20 years, but I've never told you this before - what you'll see in "My Romania, Our Romania" campaign is going to hurt a lot: Romania is about us. You will recognize yourself in each of these stories. Because you and I have encountered something to makes us say - it is very difficult to live in Romania. You will see, at Observator, all these stories in an unique journalistic approach, starting from the largest national study ever initiated by a media entity, carried out by the prestigious international market research company IPSOS. So that, in the end, we find out what Romanians want from Romania." - Alessandra Stoicescu, Observator journalist
Every day, at 7:00 p.m., the figures from the Observator National Study turn into reports that dissect the most painful topics that negatively mark the lives of Romanians. Their expectations and wishes will reach, through the biggest journalistic effort in Romania in the last 35 years, the hands of those who promise and decide at a time when we all have to decide who will lead our Romania.
