Andreea Vasile leads the cast of Undercover Heart, the latest original series created by Ruxandra Ion and produced by Dream Film Production for Antena 1. The series combines drama with strong action elements, all woven into a forbidden love story. The actress will play a key role at the heart of the story, bringing to viewers a powerful woman who cannot afford to make mistakes. As the head of the Romanian division of a major European anti-fraud agency, Clara will always strive to stay one step ahead of everyone else.
With a career built around powerful characters and projects that have showcased her versatility, Andreea Vasile has been a constant presence on the theatre stage, as well as in film and television. A 2010 graduate of the I.L. Caragiale National University of Theatre and Film, the actress has brought memorable characters to life over the years in productions such as Green Moon, Fixeur, Why Me?, Ramon and the recently released 3 Days in September, as well as in series such as Lavender Perfume Love, Shadows, Spy/Master and The Clan, and on the stages of Metropolis and Nottara Theatres.
In the original series Undercover Heart, Andreea Vasile plays Clara, a woman at the helm of the Romanian division of a major European anti-fraud agency. Clara is an intelligent, rigorous and influential woman who has transformed the agency into a force capable of pursuing the most complex leads. Her career has always come first, and every decision she makes is guided by clarity and a single objective: the truth. Under her leadership, the agency has solved difficult cases and built connections and influence both in Romania and abroad. A consummate professional, Clara cannot afford to make mistakes. However, when her lead agent goes undercover, Clara discovers a world where corruption, power games and hidden identities intersect with forbidden love, and where even the most carefully controlled mission can bring impossible-to-ignore truths to light.
For the role, Andreea began preparing more than a year ago: “I wanted there to be a real transformation for this project, something that could be felt in everything, from the way I move to the energy I have. I started running, began going to the gym regularly, completely changed my routine, and I believe that the whole process resulted in more than just a visual transformation. Little by little, I changed my body, then my energy and my routine, and eventually, something within me changed as well,” the actress reveals.
The offer to play Clara was met with a mix of excitement and caution: “The project sounded very good, and the character is something I had never done before. That is where the excitement came from, but also the caution. What matters most, though, is that even though we’ve been filming for several months now — we started shooting in February — the excitement is still there, even though you might be tempted to think that routine could set in very easily. The character surprises me, the story surprises me, and there are still things I discover along the way. I was determined not to leave absolutely anything to chance. The role required a level of physical fitness that I am still working on, as well as a discipline and rigor that were not unfamiliar to me, but which have now become key elements of the character. All of this is combined with a certain kind of duplicity that has to be constantly built.”
Speaking about Clara, the actress adds: “She is a character who needs to be extremely present in her own life, because every decision she makes can have serious consequences both for herself and for those around her. She is a woman who carefully weighs every word, every emotion and every decision, and leaves nothing to chance. I can’t wait for viewers at home to discover her too!”
Ruxandra Ion, in turn, reveals: “From the very first days of casting, I knew that Andreea was the perfect choice for Clara. She is a talented, professional, serious and extremely hard-working actress. Proof that I had a good instinct once again came immediately: as soon as she received the news, she started working hard to prepare for the role! Andreea is an incredible person!”
Meanwhile, coordinating director Iulia Rugină says: “Andreea is the kind of actress who throws herself completely into the emotion required by a scene, and that is extremely helpful to me, especially when it comes to complicated, highly intense scenes. Because I know for sure that I have both the resources and the right person to build something every single time!”
Developed as early as 2025 and entering production at the beginning of 2026, the original series Undercover Heart will take viewers into a world of hidden identities, power games and secrets that change lives, all woven around a unique love story. At the heart of the action is an undercover agent who receives an extremely important mission. Following a devastating fire, he assumes a new identity and infiltrates one of the most influential and corrupt families in the real estate industry, with the aim of uncovering criminal connections, illegal activities, money laundering, high-level corruption and a possible link to an international terrorist network. However, his greatest challenge will not be the mission he has to complete. It will be love!
